About Kapittel
Kapittel, Stavanger International Festival of Literature and Freedom of Speech, is an annual festival organised by Sølvberget Library and Cultural Centre.
Literature and Freedom of Speech
Kapittel is one of the largest and most renown literary events in Scandinavia, with a strong focus on freedom of speech and social issues. We invite around 150 guests to a festival featuring stage conversations, lectures, readings, documentary films and a children’s program. The aim of Kapittel is to bring new literary voices to its audience, and to be a venue for a wide range of fiction and non-fiction from Norwegian and international writers.
Festival theme
In 2022 the festival theme will be "Rupture". The pandemic has created a breach to the world as we knew it, and in the years to come we will have to find new ways to live together. Rupture is also an interesting starting point for discussing contemporary literature, both in form and content.
Kapittel follows the COVID-19 guidelines from the Norwegian Institute of Public Health.
