Cooperation with Red Cross

Sammarbeid med Røde kors

Sølvberget organises several activities together with Red Cross. Language Cafe is held two times a week and homework help is held three times a week.

In addition, Red Cross organises other activities:

Norwegian practice

Red Cross is holding Language Cafe at Sølvberget every Wednesday and Thursday, but is also organising Norwegian practice at Johannes Læringssenter. This is an activity available to all those who want to practice Norwegian in a safe and positive environment. The activity is run by volunteers and usual activities include: reading newspapers, discussions, playing games, quiz, word games and conversations about dialects, slang, words and expressions.

International women’s cafe

International women’s cafe takes place every Wednesday from 12:30 to 14:30 at Red Cross’ premises in Østerlide. Here, many women from all over the world meet and speak in both Norwegian and English about culture, society and other things of interest. It is usually combined with knitting or other creative activities.

Walk and Talk

Walk and Talk is a walking group for male residents in refugee reception centres. Volunteers go for a walk with the male residents. The volunteers and the residents decide together where they want to walk.

Kors på halsen

At Kors på halsen (Cross my heart) you can talk with or write to adult volunteers in Red Cross. They will listen to what you have to say and will help you if you want them to. It is completely anonymous and free for those aged 18 and below. Volunteers will answer phone calls, chats and e-mails Monday to Friday between 14:00 and 22:00 (opening hours are slightly reduced during summer: 16:00 to 22:00). Search and Rescue Corps Stavanger

The Search and Rescue Corps’ goal is to be the best at search and rescue from ocean to mountain. The many search and rescue corps in Red Cross have storages with complete first aid equipment and other equipment for search and rescue missions. The Search and Resue Corps have their own premises for training, regular operation and social activities. This is essential for the members to be as prepared as possible to face the many and difficult tasks in the Norwegian Red Cross Search and Rescue Corps.
