@booktomas leser: Sommerens favoritter

- Noen skuffelser?

Her er Tomas' lesesommer i Instagram-form:

Agnes Ravatn - The Bird Tribunal (2013). This was exactly what I wanted right now! Something simple, but good. And this is good. Really really good in fact. In a way it reminds me of The Wall by Marlen Haushofer, because even though it is super slow, it keeps your attention without even trying. And, at least the Norwegian version, it's really funny as well. The way she expresses herself, and the choice of words made me laugh a few times. In a way it's a psychological thriller, but really it's just a really well written book that keeps you alert for the whole read. I think everybody should read this book! . .. ... .. .... ..... .... ....... ...... ....... ...... ..... .... ... ... ... . #agnesravatn #fugletribunalet #thebirdtribunal #bookstagram #bookphoto #bookphotography #bookpic #bookish #instabook #booknerd #bookporn #librarian #librarianlife #bookoholic #bibliophile #bookreview #shortreview #microreview #boktips #samlaget #detnorskesamlaget

Monica Isakstuen - Anstendig og verdighet (2017). I love everything about this little book. From the crazy title that doesn't make any sense; to the unusual format (a bunch of different fonts and text sizes); to the strange "dialogish" collection of texts that are contained inside. The book itself is a result of what's happening around the immigration issues in Europe, and maybe also how to feel about the fact that Norway accept so few of them. The theme of this little book is not easy to explain in a few words, but perhaps it is about how much you have to do to be on "the good side"? Do you have to correct you semi-racist dad? Is it enough that you played with some immigrant kids when you were little? So much thought went into this <3 . . . . . . . . . . . . . #flammeforlag #monicaisakstuen #anstendigogverdighet #forfatteropprop #værsnillmeddyrene #norwegianliterature #scandinavianliterature #bookstagram #bookphoto #bookpic #bookphotography #bookish #instabook #booknerd #bookporn #igbooks #librarian #librarianlife #igreads #bookoholic #bookreview #boktips #shortreview #microreview

Knut Hamsun - Growth of the Soil (1917). I read this 17 or 18 years ago and I loved it. And since it has a 100 year anniversary this year a colleague and me decided to re-read it and compare what we thought about it this time around. Turns out, it's still really great! On this, we agree. It had a rocky start, but then it just got better and better. And, the narrator was really annoying all through the book. The book itself would have been catchy enough without the narrator telling you what to think all the time. But other than this, it was a good feeling to read a great classic again. In short, the story takes place in the end of the 1800s and the main character is building a new settlement in the north of Norway. It's at the transition from the old to the new world, and it's a fascinating read. What are the important things in life? How do we take care of the earth for the next generations? In one way it's amazing that it's a hundred years old and at the same time it probably could never have been written at any other time. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #markensgrøde100år #knuthamsun #markensgrøde #growthofthesoil #norwegianliterature #classics #classicbooks #bookstagram #bookphoto #bookpic #bookphotography #bookish #instabook #booknerd #bookporn #igbooks #librarian #librarianlife #bookoholic #bibliophile #bookreview #boktips #shortreview #microreview
